Hometown: I was born and raised on a farm/ranch at Ralph, SD, one of six children.
Education: I attended a one-room country school for eight years and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in New England, ND. The University of Mary is where I received my BS degree, with majors in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I also have my LMO3 (Library) credential.
Teaching⁄Work Experience: I have had a variety of teaching jobs due to my husband’s career change moves. I taught 4th grade at Christ the King in Mandan, 5th grade at Holy Rosary School in Detroit Lakes, MN, 6th grade and then five years of preschool at St. Patrick-Queen of Peace in Dickinson, and also 7th and 8th grade Science and Math and grades 1-8 Computer Skills at St. Anne School in Bismarck. I have done lots of subbing also! I started here at St. Joseph School in 2002.
Family: My husband, Kevin (a wonderful man, may I add!), retired the summer of 2015 and has provided for our family for many years. We have five daughters (Cassandra, Martine, Benita, Lorine, and Katrin) and a son (AJ) who are all married. I am also blessed to have a bunch of grandchildren! They are such a joy in my life!
Interests: I enjoy music, baking, reading, quilting, spending time on the pontoon, and most of all, spending time with family.
Why do you like teaching Saint Joseph School: I am committed to Catholic education and our children have all attended Catholic Schools. All four families of school-age grandkids attend Catholic Schools in Fargo, Dickinson, and Mandan. I like being able to help children grow spiritually as well as academically and emotionally. The students, families, and staff of Catholic Schools just can’t be surpassed and I feel very fortunate to work with the wonderful school community here at St. Joseph School.
