Dr. David Fleischacker has been hired to be the new principal at St. Joseph School. Dr.Fleischacker, his wife, Dr. Christine Fleischacker, and their 5 children live in Bismarck. He has been in administration for more than 20 years and a teacher for more than 30 years.
Dr. David Fleischacker earned his doctorate in theology from the Catholic University of America in 2004 along with a Master of Arts in Theology in 1996, a Master of Arts in Philosophy in 1992 from Boston College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and in Theology in 1987 from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. His doctoral thesis was on the development of Blessed John Henry Newman’s idea of a university.
Starting in 1998, he began working with Phyllis Wallbank--a life-long educator in London, England--who had developed a school and training program based on the work of Blessed John Henry Newman and Maria Montessori. The name of this combination is Natural Education. Dr. Fleischacker will be joined by his wife, Dr. Christine Fleischacker who has been a teacher for the last 16 years in biology and chemistry, and for the last 8 years she has been the program chair of Biological Education at the University of Mary. She will be overseeing the development and implementation of the Natural Education classrooms in the upcoming years. These classrooms are four-dimensional learning worlds setup specifically for the natural developmental stages of the child’s neurological, psychological, intellectual, moral, and religious capabilities and interests.
