Through this Sacrament of Matrimony, a man and a woman are intimately united in the presence of Christ and the Christian community. Their unity as husband and wife signifies and gives them a share of mystery of that unity and fruitful love which exists between Christ and the Church. Through marriage they help each other attain holiness from that Sacrament which they actually confer upon one another.
